This is where we take the socks that we worked so hard to knit this past month and distribute them to those in need. In addition to sharing our handmade gifts, we’ll also be providing care packages and hot food and beverages to members of the Humboldt Park community.
If you’re interested in participating, we need volunteers to help gather and prepare socks for distribution, prepare care packages, provide transportation to volunteers, and help walk the streets. You can sign up and detail your desired responsibilities here. 20% of proceeds from the Socktober preorder are going toward sourcing food and supplies for this event. If you would like to support this cause and get some great new yarn in the process, you can do so here.
We will meet at Humboldt Park (the park) and walk the neighborhood until food and supplies run out. Any remaining socks will be donated to The Night Ministry for distribution, and any proceeds not used for the Walk will be including in the donations split between Howard Brown Health and The Night Ministry.
