Rico Cotton is a mercerized and gassed 100% cotton that has a smooth, even surface. Its durability makes it suitable for a range of crochet and knitting projects where stability and stitch definition are required.
Mercerization is a treatment for cellulosic material that strengthens the fiber and makes it shiny. Mercerized yarn dyes easier and holds its color longer. Gassed yarn is mercerized cotton that has been exposed to flame. This process removes fuzz and excess thread, resulting in a smoother fiber.
